J.S.Vig builds first LEED Silver bank in the state of Michigan
LANSING, Mich., January, 2014 — J.S. Vig Construction, a Southeast Michigan-based full-service general contractor and construction management company, recently finished a branch for PNC Bank in East Lansing, MI. What makes this branch unique is its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification, making it the first bank in Michigan with this high level of environmental sustainability and efficiency.
“We are very proud to announce that we have built the first LEED Silver bank in the state. Not only are green building practices the right thing to do, but the investment payback is becoming more significant. Utilizing green building practices to make a building just 30 percent more energy efficient will reduce operations and maintenance costs, creating a sound investment payback as energy costs continue to increase,” reports Joe Vig, CEO of J.S. Vig.
Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the LEED certification process serves to enhance environmental awareness among architects and building contractors, and to encourage the design and construction of energy-efficient, water-conserving buildings that use sustainable or green resources and materials. LEED certified buildings are intended to use resources more efficiently when compared to conventional buildings simply built to code.
Founded in 1965, Southeast Mich.-based J.S. Vig Construction Company is a full-service general contractor and construction management company.
